Hillary for President

There is only one candidate currently running for President of the United States that I feel comfortable endorsing. That is Hillary Rodham Clinton.?

Those who have read biographies of her know she's a remarkable woman who has led a remarkable life, from working hard on behalf of children to serving the nation in the Watergate investigation to being First Lady of the United States, and later an American Senator who worked hard on behalf of her home state and the rest of the nation. From a young age, Senator Clinton has been politically conscious and active. She has years of experience to her name, first-hand knowledge of practical governance in all three branches of government and the?brilliance to her credit. By all accounts she is a woman who takes the world?into? heavy consideration, thinking of the nation's problems and how to solve them. And while it is unfair to attribute all and any achievements of Bill Clinton (as well as sexist), it would also be foolish (and sexist) to pretend that she had nothing to do with any of her husband's policies over the years, for better and for worse.

Let me be clearer: I am a believer in pragmatic government and realistic rhetoric. While I am not a friend of old fogies, I am certainly a believer in experience and am comforted by it at times. That is where Clinton lacks, as her past resonates with me more strongly than what I consider the empty rhetoric and résumé of her realistic opponents. But I do have a caveat: Al Gore is the one I really love, and?Hillary?Clinton?scares?me? slightly, as I worry about her being a hyper-partisan, which can work very well if you're like Harry Truman or poorly if you're like Richard Nixon. I tend to think her a female Richard Nixon, in the best and worst sorts of way, but still - I endorse her, as I likely would've Nixon years ago.
