Letter from the Editor

Abstract:
The Flame apologizes for running the article, "Paranoia in the Gambling Den" (Sean Murray, Mar. 1, 2010), which covered the UIC Men's Tennis Team. The article was intended to propose that people placing bets against the UIC athletic teams would soon lose their money due to the Men's Tennis Team's winning streak....

Why do you keep apologizing for running stories that some find offensive? First of all, the article wasn't even "inappropriate and disrespectful", unless you're a degenerate gambler. Second, as a newspaper, I guess I just assumed that you would prioritize free speech over the non-existent right to not be offended.

I'm sure most UIC students can decide for themselves what they "should" and "shouldn't" be reading. I wish whoever (anonymously, I might add) keeps posting these cowardly apologies would grow a pair and defend your supposed trade.
