Daley helps celebrate 40 years of UIC

An ROTC guard who held the ribbon for the inaugural ceremonies of the circle campus on February 22, 1965, kept a piece of the tape as a personal memoir of the event. Forty years later he had an opportunity to present his souvenir to the Daley family at the university's anniversary ceremony.

Dr. Clifford Pilz, 83, award-winning teacher at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, died February 8 at his home in Riverside.
During a 40-year career as a professor and medical educator, Pilz received the Raymond B. Allen Instructorship Award, known as the Golden Apple, 10 times, a record among UIC College of Medicine faculty.
