On Thursday, Oct. 5, there will be a free sidewalk sex clinic open to students and the public. Annie Sprinkle, a former prostitute and porn film star turned sex educator will be visiting the campus.
The sex clinic will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Quad.
Free sex clinics similar to this have been to the streets of New York, San Francisco, and Amherst College.
Sprinkle is the first porn star to earn a Ph.D. She will provide free advice on sex, love and relationships. This event is a part of the LGBT heritage month and is co-sponsored by local sex store Early to Bed.
Annie Sprinkle, born Ellen Steinberg, began her adult film career with her first work "A Teenage Covergirl" in 1973, which was done before her 20th birthday. She performed in the 1982 film "Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle" which earned the second highest gross of any adult film that year. Eleven years later she created the "Sluts and Goddesses workshop," which turned into the film "How To Be a Sex Goddess in 101 Easy Steps." Her works try to mesh sexuality, politics, spirituality, and art together. She has been touring the United States for the past 17 years performing in shows.
Her work has spanned three decades and is material for many universities, theater programs, film study classes and women's studies classes. She has been in more than 200 films including XXX, X, B-movies, and four HBO documentaries.
