DeMerit featured in Sports Illustrated
Former UIC soccer star, Jay DeMerit will be featured in the Monday, Oct. 16 edition of Sports Illustrated. The article, written by senior writer Grant Wahl, will detail DeMerit's life as an American player in the English Premier League and his chances of making the United States Men's National Team. ESPN Soccernet also published an article on the rising star last week, which claims speculation that the ex-Flame may soon be "the most watched and followed American playing abroad." DeMerit currently plays for Watford.
Granderson's prominent postseason
Former UIC baseball star, and current Detroit Tigers centerfielder Curtis Granderson, picked the perfect time to come out of his second half slump. In his first full major league season, the 25 year old is rapidly maturing on baseball's national stage. Through Friday, in his first 7 postseason games, Granderson is batting .321 with 3 hr.'s, 6 RBI's, and 6 runs scored. The offensive surge, along with his keen eye in centerfield has caught the attention of the baseball world. "He plays hard, he's got a great attitude, he's good in the clubhouse and he's just hitting," said Tigers third baseman Bradon Inge.
