Sometimes it can be difficult to remain fashionable while in college. The average student most likely juggles classes, studying and a job, so for many students, clothing may be the last thing on their minds.

High-end dresses with price ranges exceeding $1,000 presented in magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar may be unattainable for the typical student. There are many ways to start the new year with an affluent wardrobe without paying more than necessary.

For many women, resale shops are treasure troves for any bargain shopper looking to find something unique.

"I feel thrift shops, second hand stores and designer consignment stores are gold mines, especially near areas where there are affluent communities near by. The affluent style-conscious turn their wardrobes often and their recycle is your gain. You can pick up several pieces here, then set them off with a single accessory from H&M or other discounter," stated trend tracker and business strategist Nan Andrews Amish.

Target, located near UIC at 1154 S. Clark St. and can be found citywide, may have the right clothing to spruce up drab wardrobes. Under their GO International program, Target has summoned many top well-known designers to create dubbed down versions of their original style. In recent times, top New York designer Prozena Schouler has been welcomed to Target and will release affordable designs in February.

After you have the clothing aspect down, fresh looks can be best maintained by accessorizing. The positive aspect of accessories is they last for many years and high quality bags and shoes wear well with time.

As the first high-end label for Payless, Abaeté exudes a high fashion look without the high fashion price. Laura Poretzky, designer for Abaeté, designed the collection to complement the trends of skinny jeans, rising skirt hemlines and deep, rich colors. Every shoe is priced less than $35. The closest Payless to UIC is located at 500 W. Roosevelt Rd.

If looking for more affordable Nine West shoes, check out the outlet in 2058 N. Halsted St.

Equally important as shoes, handbags play an important role for those who cannot afford or fit the ready-to-wear. Signature bags produced by many designers are increasing in popularity, similar to the fragrances and eyewear aspects of brands.

Although pricey, many "it" bags give your attire some flair. Cheap finds for lavish looks should not be difficult. Many can be found in H&M located at 22 N. State St.

With many retailers such as Target, H&M, Payless and Nine West, clothing is accessible and can be interchanged or removed without apprehension whenever current trends adjust. A well-rounded wardrobe may be simple when combined with signature pieces from high fashion designers.
