Vote Obama!

Issue date: 1/28/08 Section: Opinions
Barack Obama is clearly the best choice for president of the United States. Half Kenyan and half Kansan, Obama grew up in Hawaii, spent time in Indonesia and then moved to New York for undergraduate studies at Columbia University. His humble origins and work as a community organizer after college on Chicago's South Side distinctly set him apart from his opponents' own self-interested, privileged and monolithic upbringings.
Still wanting to fundamentally alter the lives of the less fortunate, Obama went to Harvard Law School where he became the first African-American president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review, and then he moved back to Chicago to practice law as a civil rights attorney. While lecturing constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School, Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996 where he served until his election to the United States Senate in 2004.
Obama's career as a United States Senator demonstrates him to be progressively oriented toward the causes of common people. He has received 100 percent approval ratings from such groups as Planned Parenthood, the National Farmers Union, Citizens for Tax Justice, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Education Association, the League of Conservation Voters and the Children's Defense Fund.
As president, Obama will restore the White House to a position of international dignity and domestic respect. He pledges, among other goals, to end the disastrous occupation of Iraq, to end the redistribution of wealth from indigent persons to opulent individuals and corporations, and to make universal health care a reality. Obama is especially praiseworthy for his refusal to accept lobbyist money and his aggressive plans for ridding Capitol Hill of the legal bribery that passes as corporate lobbying.
It's time for change in this country, and not merely change to another white, wealthy establishment candidate. As the next president of the United States, Barack Obama will accomplish this much needed change.

Michael,
In your endorsement you have made no mention as to what change Obama plans to bring. I understand your position since Obama himself has not outlined any of his own plans for change, or defined the direction of his campaign, other than portraying himself as a moderate. (Continued…)

Michael,
You know, I really believe that Barack Obama has the most spirit out of all of the presidential candidates. I want to agree with you. But I'd like to know how you would respond to a few questions:
1) have you ever considered that he might be TOO charismatic? (I mean, Hitler was pretty charismatic. (Continued…)

Dear Bill,
I agree that Obama has portrayed himself as a moderate--could we expect anything else from a candidate running in a racist country fixated on a black getting "too uppity?" You said I "made no mention as to what change Obama plans to bring. (Continued…)

Dear Bill,
I have little time right now to address the other issues you raised (I will get to them when time allows), but a popular myth is that Obama is liberal or "extreme left," as one of our delusional writers wrote last week. (Continued…)

Obama is "...clearly the best choice," eh? Well, yes, if you're referring to his membership in the globalist CFR -- the Council on Foreign Relations, of which Bush, Cheney, both Clintons, Exxon Mobil and Halliburton all belong to -- or his vote yes on the reauthorization of the civil liberty-stealing Patriot Act.
