If you're looking for an upscale, eclectic boutique in the growing University Village neighborhood, then look no further than Lissa's on Maxwell, located at 729 W. Maxwell St.
Featuring women's clothing from the latest up-and-coming designers, this boutique focuses on "international collections and unique pieces that can't be found elsewhere," says the owner and buyer of the store, Lissa Shipley.
"I select all of the pieces," Shipley explained. "Other stores have someone else for that, but I buy the clothing for the store."
All of the various emerging designers featured at the store have their own special sections, and Lissa's also sells designer accessories, making it easier to assemble that perfect outfit. Lissa's on Maxwell opened in November 2006, and since then it has remained a popular place to shop for women all over the city.
"We're right next to that convenient parking structure on Maxwell," comments Shipley. "It's $2 to park for two-and-a-half hours."
Though the price tags are definitely that of designer clothing (expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $1,000, depending on what one purchases), Shipley says that her store caters to various demographics and groups.
"We see neighborhood women come in, South and West Loop residents, young professionals…we get women coming in from all over the city," said Shipley. "We're really pioneering this area. There's so much growth and not a lot of luxury yet."
Featuring beautiful, eclectic clothing for every taste and occasion, Lissa's on Maxwell has made a name and a niche for itself not only in University Village, but all of Chicago.
"We're a small specialty store," says Shipley, "and we have a great clientele who are very loyal."
If you're looking for that specialty piece that can't be found anywhere else, then Lissa's on Maxwell is the place to go.
